DISINFECTING OF PLAYING SAND

YOU CAN CLEAN WITHOUT DISINFECTING, BUT YOU CANNOT DISINFECT WITHOUT CLEANING.

QUADEX^®SANDPIT POWDER has been specifically formulated to safely disinfect sandpits and play sand in schools, nursery schools and public parks – anywhere where the pit is used on a daily basis and subjected to heavy human traffic. Sandpits provide many hours of interactive fun for children, however unclean sandpits can cause infections, diarrhea and even contaminate young toddlers with intestinal parasites and worms should they accidentally ingest contaminated sand.

SANDPIT PROBLEMS:
Sandpits become unclean when animals (particularly cats and dogs) and children use them as toilets. Toxoplasmosis can be spread from animals to humans through unclean sand and can result in: rashes, swollen glands, fever and a general feeling of being unwell. It has also been known to harm unborn infants. It should be noted that once play sand becomes moist or wet it may be capable of sustaining microbiological growth. Insects can live in damp sand and may bite or sting children.

WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF CARE, SANDPITS CAN BE KEPT HYGIENIC, CLEAN AND SAFE FOR CHILDREN TO PLAY IN.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

Make sure the sandpit is well drained so that it always stays as dry as possible. Play sand should be washed at least once a month with tap water (if it is not regularly washed by rain prior to disinfecting). Allow sand to dry completely and then disinfect by thoroughly mixing 1kg Quadex^® Sandpit Powder per one (1) cubic meter of play sand. Immediate washing and sanitising should take place again should evidence of faeces, urine or insects be visible.
